Jan Egri is a dedicated Mah Jongg player and educator with a passion for sharing the game’s rich history and strategic depth. Her journey with Mah Jongg began over 20 years ago, after being introduced to the game at a young age by her mother, who started playing in 1956. Though she initially enjoyed the game as a spectator, it wasn’t until years later that Jan took her first class, opening her world to a community and tradition she has embraced ever since. She is committed to teaching Mah Jongg, ensuring her students not only learn the rules, but also understand the game’s nuances and the important role it plays in fostering connections between people. In 2015, Jan was invited by Johni Levene, the creator of the Facebook group Mah Jongg, That’s It!, to become an administrator. In this role, she has enjoyed interacting with the group’s members, answering questions, and explaining the rules to help players at all levels enjoy the game. Additionally, Jan is an active participant in Mah Jongg tournaments and serves as a rules moderator for monthly events. A passionate collector, she is the proud owner of a large collection of Mah Jongg sets and enjoys creating custom-made joker stickers for fellow players. Outside of Mah Jongg, Jan has been happily married for nearly 40 years and is the proud mother of one son. Originally from upstate New York, she has spent many years enjoying the company of family and friends, while deepening her passion for travel and learning. Jan’s journey with Mah Jongg continues to be enriched by the relationships she’s built and the joy she finds in teaching others to experience the same sense of community and fun she’s come to cherish.

Linda B. Rosenson discovered her passion for Mah Jongg about 10 years ago, initially driven by curiosity and a deep-seated love for card games, puzzles, and social challenges—a passion that runs deeply through her family. After her patient friends introduced her to the game, she quickly realized that Mah Jongg offered something uniquely special. The combination of strategy, socialization, and the ever-evolving challenges of each game captivated her, and she has been hooked ever since. As an avid player and educator, Linda has had the privilege of teaching more than 100 people how to play Mah Jongg. She continues to teach locally in Cherry Hill, NJ, where she fosters a welcoming and supportive environment for new players to learn and enjoy the game. In addition to her teaching, Linda is the administrator for the South Jersey Mah Jongg Players Facebook group, where she connects and engages with the local community. During the height of the pandemic, Linda became known for her creative contributions to the Mah Jongg community, starting with “Mah Jongg Haikus” on the popular Mah Jongg, That’s It! Facebook group. This initiative led to a series of additional Mah Jongg memes and puzzles, which eventually included her own version of “Mah Jongg WORDLE,” a fun and educational challenge she posts every Friday. Linda’s true passion, however, lies in Mah Jongg Wheel of Fortune, which she posts each Saturday morning. These puzzles have become a beloved feature within the community, serving both as an entertaining diversion and a useful teaching tool. Linda feels incredibly fortunate to have met and collaborated with some of the most kind-hearted, generous, and creative individuals through her Mah Jongg journey. Her work continues to inspire and connect players, and she remains excited to contribute to the growing Mah Jongg community.
